Bulgaria has built a fence at its border with Turkey and continue to push back exiles, like Syrians, which try to cross the border, as shown by the testimonies collected by Human Rights Watch, which challenges the Bulgarian and European authorities.
In Kalishte, where there is a reception center for asylum seekers, the mayor refuse to accept their children at school, and some of the parents from the locality refuse to accept them in the same school as their own children. This raises the question of the refugees’ possibilities of integration in Bulgaria.
